Infection Control Course in Bridgeport, CT

Valley Medical Institute is offering the Infection Control Course

Course Code: Infection Control
Course Type: Dental
Clock Hours: 24

Course Description:
The course concentrates the student’s attention on an extremely important aspect of the dental assistant’s job as well as preparing them for the DANB ICE exam.
Human health and safety including infection control is essential to every practitioner, patient and the surrounding community. It is a very important aspect of the industry.
These areas are in constant flux. New products, equipment and processes seemingly appear on a daily basis. In addition, government agencies and professional associations regularly release new rules, regulations and recommendations.

Dental practices must comply with certain requirements, but the methods involved often seem complex, time consuming and relatively expensive. However, there are really no alternatives to an effective workplace health and safety program. Each dental practice must make the commitment to establish and maintain a safe work and treatment environment.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) releases an extensive review and set of recommendations regarding infection control in dental environments. This document as well as others serve as guides for this course. The guidelines for the course will update previous CDC infection control measures and discuss a number of concerns not previously addressed in dentistry.
One effective way a dental practice can improve and maintain compliant health and safety programs is through the appointment of an infection control coordinator. This person should be willing to be trained and be given the responsibility for coordinating the program.
